About Us

We believe that all people should have access to Therapy, by clinicians and interns who are continually trained, educated, and who are also taken care of (not overworked). In doing so we try to meet the needs of those in the community who come to see us by either sliding our fees or accepting insurance.

‘Our Difference

Although we are small compared to some larger practices, we make certain those with us are cared for. Our difference is that we are committed to well trained therapists and a community supported team. We believe this will help our therapists be more attuned and effective for our community.

Community supported to us means focusing on our own relationships here, tending to transitions of therapists leaving, and challenging ourselves to engage with each other. If we are cared for, we can support our community better. A well cared for therapist means that their clients can be well cared for too.

Is Therapy Right for You?

People come to therapy for a variety of reasons and we’re here to help you decide if it’s right for you. Our therapists support clients working with a various challenges that can arise in everyday life, such as:

We use a variety of modalities and tailor our sessions to meet the needs of each individual, couple, or family. If you want to find out more or are ready to start making changes in your life, we’re here to help.

More About Us

Whole Connection came together as a place to provide training and to support continuous growth for therapists who were working in the community, particularly with clients who have difficulty accessing mental health resources.  We have slowly become a group of therapists and interns that continue to grow.

Understanding a person through a social work perspective is central to our work. This means we look at how culture and society affect individuals as we explore their mental health concerns. In order to do this, we make sure that we continue to learn and grow from the best in our community. We believe in continuing our own education.

Who We Serve

At Whole Connection we wish to help all those we are able to. Through our many different modalities we aim to provide the right solution and options for our clients, including providing service to those who normally don't have financial access to it. We serve a variety of people, below are just a few different scenarios.

  • Children who might be experiencing tougher times at home because of life or family changes

  • Adolescents feeling unseen, frustrated, or lost and possibly acting out

  • Men struggling in relationships to connect with others

  • A young adult with years of struggles to be emotional intimate

  • An individual wondering more about their identity

  • Someone wishing to rediscover themselves with others

  • People struggling to be in relationship with anyone

  • Those who do not feel understood by anyone

Languages:

  • We have therapists who speak English, Spanish , Mandarin, and Farsi

A few of our Modalities:

  • Attachment-based therapy is a process-oriented form of counseling. The client-therapist relationship is based on developing or rebuilding trust and centers on expressing emotions. An attachment-based approach to therapy looks at the connection between an infant’s early attachment experiences with primary caregivers, and the infant’s ability to develop normally and ultimately form healthy emotional and physical relationships as an adult. • Eye Movement and Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR): EMDR is a psychotherapy treatment that was originally designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories and other adverse life experience to bring these to an adaptive resolution. After successful treatment with EMDR therapy, affective distress is relieved, negative beliefs are reformulated, and physiological arousal is reduced. More info:

  • Family and couples therapy is a form of psychotherapy that addresses the behaviors of all family members and the way these behaviors affect not only individual family members but also relationships between members and the family unit as a whole. Family therapy was developed by physician Salvador Minuchin in the 1960s and '70s. Treatment is usually divided between time spent on individual therapy and time spent on couple therapy, family therapy, or both, if necessary. This type of therapy focuses on communication, coping skills, constructive problem-solving, as well as ways to build trust and strengthen healthy relationships in a family system. More info:

  • Group work is a modality of therapy that allows individuals to engage with a collective of people rather than an individual. Here at Whole Connection we have support groups and therapy groups. Each being different in their own, but both giving similar benefits. Through the collective approach people are able to see themselves through others, but more importantly learn about pieces of themselves by listening to others not just sharing. Internally we have reactions and experiences always even if they may be small, they can still be important pieces of us that have not been heard or listened to by even ourselves. With a facilitator's support members of a group can vastly increase their resilience and ability to work with emotions while having reparative moments with others that may heal old wounds. Group therapy helps us go deeper into difficult places with the present moment experience which when cared for can be healed and cared for by not only a therapist but by others. To learn more see our website and contact our group coordinator, Phillip Horner, to have a free talk about the group and if it can be something that might support and help you through your next steps.

  • Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP) is a therapeutic modality for trauma and attachment issues. SP welcomes the body as an integral source of information which can guide resourcing and the accessing and processing of challenging, traumatic, and developmental experience. SP is a holistic approach that includes somatic, emotional, and cognitive processing and integration. SP helps clients cultivate their strengths, while providing enough challenge to stimulate growth, long lasting change, and well-being. More Info:

  • Somatic therapy is a form of body-centered therapy that looks at the connection of mind and body and uses both psychotherapy and physical therapies for holistic healing. In addition to talk therapy, somatic therapy practitioners use mind-body exercises and other physical techniques to help release the pent-up tension that negatively affects a patient’s physical and emotional wellbeing. More info:

  • Psychotherapy, also called talk therapy or usually just "therapy," is a form of treatment aimed at relieving emotional distress and mental health problems. Provided by any of a variety of trained professionals—psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, or licensed counselors—it involves examining and gaining insight into life choices and difficulties faced by individuals, couples, or families. Therapy sessions refer to structured meetings between a licensed provider and a client with a goal of improving some aspect of their life. More info:
