Group Therapy

Weekly Community Groups

Group therapy is a wonderful addition to individual therapy and something that can enhance someone’s therapeutic experience. In today’s society it is hard for us not involve ourselves in groups. Many of us are engaged in groups at work, school, with friends, family, and other outside activities such as team sports, social interactions, and organizations.

In many of these experiences we have feelings that come up that can create separations, distance, anxiety, anger, and love. From these experiences we can learn so much about ourselves- both who we are, and who we have been. Group Therapy can help us reflect on past experiences to see what is still unresolved within us.

  • In our daily living it can be difficult to understand our experiences and casualties that can come from them. We might decided to ignore or push them away. Group therapy gives people a chance to explore these interactions with others in a group. With the help of the therapist, individuals can explore a dynamic living in the moment process.

  • In group therapy it can be very important to be in a “here and now” process. The here and now is the ability for a person to express their immediate thoughts without filtering or suppressing them. Group can be a wonderful place where people can rebuild relationships and grow closer in their understanding of intimacy. It is a space where people can heal from pains, struggles, or past relationships with the help of new relationships. When people are able to share their feelings and thoughts with the group it greatly helps in discovering themselves.

We believe that group is an amazing agent of change.  It can help with our relationships, grief, uncovering our past, or even building skills to work through difficult times.

Therapy Groups are a hybrid model; they will be regularly online and depending on the group, may have some longer length in person meetings.

Group Retreat Experiences will be six hour group experiences broken up over one day, usually on a weekend. They will repeat the same time each month for on-going on for 6 months, depending on the group. More information below.

Weekly Community Support Groups are offered weekly and will be free for Whole Connection Clients

  • You will complete a form below, which will be sent to our group coordinator. They will set you up with a group screen on video with a group therapist. At this time therapist and potential group member will discuss the wants from group and the different groups along with expectations of group. These last usually about 20 minutes and usually give the potential group member an idea of what group could be a good fit for them. If it is a interpersonal group the screening process will continue for a couple more times in order to make sure group is a good fit. At that point we will do our best to find a group that will be the right fit for you.You will complete a form below, which will be sent to our group coordinator. • We have been online for the most part since 2020, but we are gradually moving our groups to be in-person while also focusing on safety. This also depends on the group and the members. Currently we have two groups moving into a hybrid focus with a new support group coming that will focus on being in person.

  • The interpersonal groups are on-going and are closed from anyone dropping in. They do not have an end date and typically people stay in them from a year to multiple years. People always have to commit to 3 months with the intent of staying longer. The support group is time limited.

  • Being in a therapy group is a wonderful way to learn about the experience and how to potentially facilitate. Phillip’s interpersonal therapy groups can be a good way to do this, but they are therapy and not educational in nature. We encourage if you are looking at group as an educational experience to reach out to Phillip as he runs trainings in group therapy. Also if you are looking to join a group with the primary reason to fulfill group hours, the interpersonal groups may not be a good fit, as it is expected people will stay in them longer than most hour requirements.
