Swechhya Rajbhandari, Intern Therapist, (they/them)

My name is Swechhya Rajbhandari and I am currently pursuing a Masters of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a focus on Contemplative Psychotherapy at Naropa University. I hold a strong belief in the resilience and wisdom that lies within each person and view therapy as a collaborative journey where I have the privilege of accompanying individuals as they discover and nurture their inner capacity for healing.

In my practice, I adopt a holistic approach that combines trauma-informed evidence-based practices with contemplative mindfulness-based principles. I also believe in the power of personal narratives and utilize Narrative Therapy principles to help individuals explore their stories, understand their experiences, beliefs, and values, and create empowering narratives that truly reflect their authentic selves. Additionally, I have a passion for Play Therapy and am interested in working with children and adolescents.

Having grown up in Nepal and lived in the United States for 9 years, I understand the complexities of cross-cultural experiences and the challenges that individuals may encounter during cultural transitions. As a queer-identifying, BIPOC individual of South Asian heritage, I also I have a deep appreciation for the unique experiences and challenges that individuals with intersecting identities encounter.

Outside of therapy work, I enjoy painting, rock climbing, hiking, and reading. I also cherish spending time with my dog, who brings a lot of joy and humor to my life. I am also always eager to connect with new people.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I look forward to working with you on your mental health journey.
